Presidents Channel offers great access to several state parks on pristine islands. You can also look for wildlife and just enjoy the view along the beautiful western shore of Orcas Island. 

  • Leave from Deer Harbor or Smugglers Resort and travel to nearby state parks on Jones, Sucia, Freeman, Patos or Matia Islands. 
  • Camp on one for the many nearby park islands or just visit for the day. 
  • From Smugglers Resort it’s a short distance to the village of Eastsound. 
  • Take a whale watching or kayak tour from Smugglers Resort or Deer Harbor.

Where is Presidents Channel?

Presidents channel is the narrow waterway between Waldron Island and the west side of Orcas Island. The tides can create strong currents through this tight space. The Channel offers lovely views and is easy to access from Orcas Island.
