San Juan Islands & Friday Harbor Skateboarding, Skate Parks

Skateboarding / Skate Parks

There are several spots for San Juan Island skateboarding. Orcas, San Juan and Lopez all have skate parks. Beside the parks there is very little pavement in the islands generally.

Where can I find nearby skate parks?

The three skate parks are located in Eastsound, Lopez Village and Friday Harbor. The parks were funded and built with enthusiastic community support. Meet friendly local skaters and enjoy the parks safely.

Lopez Skate Park
This small Park has a flat concrete slab with moveable ramps and bars.

  • Location: The Park is on the east side of the Lopez Community Center on Fisherman Bay Road.
  • Hours: The Park is open from dawn until dusk all year long.
  • Services: Within walking distance of Lopez Village restaurants and stores. You can use the restroom facilities in the nearby Community Center.

Orcas Island Skate Park
The locals went all out with this state of the art skate park. The large concrete bowl has plenty of ramps, rails and curving walls to keep things interesting.

  • Location: The Park is adjacent to the Middle School on Mt. Baker Road. From Eastsound head north on North Beach Road and take a right on Mt. Baker Road.
  • Hours: The Park is open from dawn until dusk all year long.
  • Services: There are restrooms and nearby sports fields here.

Friday Harbor Skate Park
This Park has a large half bowl, rails, and quarter pipe. Less complex than the Orcas Park it’s still fun and challenging.

  • Location: This Park is in the San Juan County Fair Grounds. From the Ferry Landing head up Spring Street and take a left of Argyle, the Park will be on your left.
  • Hours: The Park is open from dawn until dusk all year long.
  • Services: The Fairgrounds have restrooms, a picnic area and playground equipment.
